Their Story
The Peerless family’s very first bourbon went into a barrel in 1889. The original Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. was Distilled Spirits Plant (DSP) number 50. Today, they retain that same number while newly assigned DSP numbers are currently in the 20,000s.
Now in their fifth generation with current owner Corky Taylor, Peerless have revived their craft in their state-of-the-art distillery in the Bourbon District, where they use the finest ingredients. The Peerless family believes that patience builds character and fine Bourbon and Rye can never be rushed. All under one roof, the select Kentucky Peerless grains are milled, cooked, fermented, double-distilled and barrelled as Bourbon & Rye.
In 2020 American Whiskey Magazine named Kentucky Peerless Small Batch Bourbon ‘Best Kentucky Bourbon’ and Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company’s Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon was also named ‘Best Kentucky Bourbon’ at the World Whiskies Awards on February 11, 2020 where Peerless Small Batch Kentucky Straight Rye was also awarded Category Gold for Rye 12 Years and Under.
In head distiller Caleb Kilburn, a finalist for ‘Distiller Of The Year’ at the World Whiskies Awards, Peerless have one of the rising stars of the distilling industry.
