50th Anniversary Imagery

Fourteen Ten were tasked with producing a series of imagery to promote the 50th Anniversary of Benihana Restaurants.

We were given access to an archive of past black and white imagery including personal photos of the legendary Benihana founder Hiroaki “Rocky” Aoki who grew Benihana from four tables in 1964 into 120 global locations by 2014.

Our aim was to represent both the past and future within the same imagery, celebrating Benihana’s past yet embracing their future as a global franchise.

We achieved this through the creation of doodlebug style imagery where a modern graphic illustration style was placed over selected imagery from the archives.
