Ekachai Launches Hawker8 Menu with Hawker Values; Fast, Tasty and Affordable
South East Asian restaurant Ekachai has launched a new menu across three London locations designed to respect true hawker values; fast, tasty and affordable. The ‘Hawker8’ menu is offering customers eight dishes priced at £8 for eight weeks including running one special a week, from now until Sunday November 8th.
The Hawker8 menu is made up of seven classic hawker dishes such as Nonya Vegetable Curry, Kai Krapow and Chicken Laksa with the eighth dish a rotating weekly special dish inspired by Ekachai chefs and owners and rarely seen in London. Specials include Beehoon Goreng, Khao Man Gai and Hokkien Braised Duck.
“The extra time with family has given us the chance to revisit many of our childhood favourites” says Thomas Tjong of Ekachai. “Food from hawker markets across SE Asia imprint very special memories on many people and we want to share these memories with our customers. My personal favourite is the Hokkien Braised Duck (popular in Malaysia & Singapore), a slow braised duck in an incredible stock, with belly pork and tofu pieces, hard boiled egg, cucumber and spicy sambal belacan. The duck is served over rice with the braising gravy poured over.”
