Racy Neapolitan festive game comes to London

Neapolitan Tombola

Rossopomodoro are inviting Londoners to play the historical (and rather racy) Neapolitan game ‘La Tombola’ this Christmas to win prizes.

Traditionally played by Italian families at Christmas, ‘La Tombola’ is a board game much like bingo but every number has a meaning. Usually played with cards and dried pasta Londoners are being asked to tweet a number daily with which they associate and if their number matches the daily draw they win a meal for two with wine.

Will tweeters choose number 17 “The Misfortune/A Disgrazie” after misbehaving at their Christmas party? Perhaps number 21 “The Naked Lady/La Femmena Annura” might be more apt if the party went particularly well or what about number 16 “The Bottom/’O Culo” on which you’d rather be sat and not out Christmas shopping.

If you would like further information on La Tombola experience
please do not hesitate to contact Krista Booker

La Tombola was born in 1734 out of a battle between King Charles III of Bourbon and the Dominican Friar Gregorio Maria Rocco. The King was willing to make the lottery official in the Kingdom because it would have increased funds raised by taxes; by contrast the Friar considered the lottery an amoral and misleading leisure. The King was successful, of course, but only on the condition that during Christmas time the game would have been suspended to not distract people from prayers. Unwilling to give up on the game, Neapolitans turned a public game into a more intimate and familiar one: the 90 numbers matched as many meanings and those of the Neapolitan tombola are the most allusive, smutty and sometimes raunchy. Nowadays at Christmas time the game is played in homes throughout Napoli for lighthearted festive fun. That said, gambling on the outcome is often involved and, when passionately competitive Neapolitans get together, heated arguments can be expected. Well, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without family squabbles.

A daily prize announced at 10pm. If the number matches the draw you win a meal for two with wine.
A Christmas Day Draw will act as an accumulator and all daily entries will be matched against 5 numbers, the closest match will win a Pizza Masterclass for 5.

EKACHAI Launch Interactive Wall

Ekachai Interactive Wall

Our client Ekachai is completely refurbishing the interior of their Wandsworth restaurant that is located on the upper concourse of Wandsworth’s Southside Shopping Centre. Narrative, the design team, are making huge changes such as covering the roof in bamboo and hanging almost fifty light fixtures imported from Indonesia.

As well as a new look there will also be a new menu with additions such as ever popular Cantonese Char Sui Bao, Thai chicken classic Kai Krapow and Roti Canai fried Malaysian pancake. The re-launch is planned for early July however between now and then they have to fully cover the exterior in large dull hoarding.

To reimagine this temporary drawback we commissioned The Outside Collective to create an interactive mural running along the entire length of the 13m hoarding. Ekachai also provided the collateral of 500 meals for us to giveaway.

Our focus for the interactive wall was to reflect the profile of Ekachai; a Southeast Asian restaurant specialising in authentic Cantonese, Thai and Malay street food served in an informal, honest and fun environment. The cuisines’ styles were illustrated by a scene from each area in geographical order moving from morning until night. We then made these scenes interactive to promote engagement and social media promotion of the re-launch. The Hong Kong scene features über-sized chopsticks, Thailand conical hats and Malaysia a becak bicycle. Instructions on how to use the wall are positioned at the top of the mural, to the side and also on an A board.

Yesterday Fourteen Ten spent time at Southside wearing Ekachai uniforms and encouraging passers-by to pose with the items on the wall. Some interacted, some didn’t but the first thing people did when walking past was to look at the wall, stop and smile many enquiring about the re-launch of the restaurant. We also spoke to lots of customers who were disappointed (and some angry!) to find their local restaurant was temporarily closed which was an interesting observation on numbers of regular diners.

Follow the entries using the hashtag #Ekachai.

To win one of 500 free main-meals passers-by can select between Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia pose with the chopsticks, hats or bicycle and upload a photograph on either Facebook, Twitter or Instagram including the hashtag #Ekachai.

Recommended Site: From Britain With Love

At Fourteen Ten we particularly enjoy collaborating with online media that demonstrates the same ethics and messages as our clients.

Once we find these pairings we do our very best to propose a solution that works at it’s very best for both client and site. How can we share markets? How can we drive Social Media? What can we give back to make the partnership beneficial for all parties? Can we perpetuate a long-term relationship? Our approach is all about building relationships, after all this is what social stands for.

One site we enjoy working with is From Britain With Love “the home of beautiful British living”. This site is an online shop, directory and magazine celebrating all things beautiful and British made. Visitors can browse the shop for British made gifts and essentials, search the directory for great British producers, and read the online magazine for ideas and inspiration. This pretty site also practises what it preaches with a beautiful design that is enjoyable to read and also easy to navigate. It also demonstrates order, organisation, attention to detail and desirability – all key factors that have to be taken in when considering brand association.

We love this limited-edition silk screen print by Ashley Amery that would make an ideal Mother’s Day gift, no matter what the age of the recipient’s “babies”. Order asap for delivery before Mother’s Day.

The Twitter Dream

When you create campaigns for clients there is always the underlying desire for it to be the best campaign EVER, with the most results EVER and the biggest reach EVER.

Fourteen Ten always strive for these results and in the past we have achieved:
*FIRST consultancy GLOBALLY to create a contest mechanic on VINE (more about that via Lonely Brand and Mashable)
*FIRST consultancy IN THE UK to create a FOURSQUARE based campaign for an alcohol brand
*Also, the FIRST consultancy IN THE UK to launch a TWITTER treasure hunt campaign

But what we haven’t done is broken a new Guinness World Record.

On 15 November, Pocky confirmed it had broken a new Guinness World Record. 3,710,044 were enough Twitter mentions to send Pocky into the history book making this campaign the most successful Twitter campaign ever. Now that is something we’d like to add our roll-call.

Pulsar measured the spread of the campaign (watch the incredible time-lapse here) and kindly analysed the secrets behind the campaign’s success. The results are specific to the make-up for Pocky’s outstanding efforts to break the world record however they contain some useful insight into virility and key components, plus of course the magical luck, timing and reception that can swing any campaign from bin to win. We’ve seen many times that outlining goals and rewards really push campaigns and this is brilliant example of inspiring the online community to drive it forward for you.

Congratulations to the SM and digital marketing team at Pocky.

#News Facebook Introduces Hashtags

Hashtag Image

Facebook has now introduced hashtags for their users which was announced by their newsroom earlier today.

You will now be able to click hashtags on Facebook as you can with other social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest.

The benefits we will see are as follows:

• Ability to search for a specific hashtag from our search bar.
• Click hashtags from other services like Instagram.
• Create posts directly from the hashtag feed and search results.

Facebook stated on their news release: “hashtags on Facebook allow you to add context to a post or indicate that it is part of a larger discussion. When you click on a hashtag in Facebook, you’ll see a feed of what other people and Pages are saying about that event or topic”.

Facebook Adds Reply Option To Comments

As of today Facebook users will finally be able to respond directly to individual comments rather than leaving their comment below all previous comments.

Company page owners will see a Facebook adds reply option to comments activation notice like this when they access their page:

This function has been needed for some time and can only be good news as it makes it easier to communicate with others. Also, the most active conversations will now feature at the top of the post.

Facebook Introducing New Privacy Controls

Facebook announced today that they are going to introduce a new set of privacy controls towards the end of 2012.

We assume this is to address growing concerns over the lack of ease behind controlling your Facebook privacy. However according to Mashable in their article today while doing this Facebook are removing the option for users to hide from public search.

Image showing where the new Facebook privacy button will appear

The good news is that these new controls will make it much easier for us to choose who we share with. The Bad news is that we will no longer be able to hide our names from Facebook search. Being sociable ourselves this isn’t something necessary to us but we feel others may have a legitimate reason such as abuse to want to stay hidden and this should have been taken into consideration.

We Have Won The American Express Most Innovative Promotion Award!

London Restaurant Festival Most Innovative Promotion 2012

Delfina London’s Restaurant Manager Shaun and General Manager Alli.

Fourteen Ten are thrilled to announce that we have won The American Express Award for Most Innovative Promotion for our work with Delfina restaurant.

The award was announced and presented at the 2012 London Restaurant Festival annual awards ceremony held at Vinopolis.

The awards evening marked the end of the festival fortnight that puts a global spotlight on the London restaurant scene. Over 800 restaurants served a ‘Festival Menu’ to 50,000 people and unique events included localised tours of foodie pockets such as Graze that took place on Delfina’s home of Bermondsey Street.

As specialists in Social Media and online development for the the hospitality industry, taking first place out of 800 competitors is a huge achievement. We successfully worked with a clear strategy and consistently in the weeks before, during and post the festival to promote and amplify Delfina’s involvement throughout the two weeks of core activity.

The award is as equally rewarding for Delfina whose presence on Bermondsey Street, amongst it’s high profile neighbours, has been raised and the restaurant now sits amongst a list of the most celebrated restaurants in the Capital today such as Dabbous, Sushi Tetsu and Pitt Cue Co as well as global culinary celebrity Jamie Oliver.

On the evening Fay Maschler told us: “London is continuing to rival Paris, New York and Sydney in terms of innovative ground-breaking food and this year’s London Restaurant Festival has really brought this to life. As we can see at tonight’s awards this city is buzzing with world leading chefs and stunning cuisine – with so much to offer we are already looking forward to LRF 2013.”

We too are looking forward to next year’s event and it is always an honour for Fourteen Ten to contribute to such a thriving restaurant scene in London today.

Thank you for an amazing evening Fay and a thoroughly exciting and challenging fortnight.

Facebook Adds New Admin Roles

This week Facebook has added new admin roles. This is a notable improvement for those of you who have quite rightly been a little hesitant to give full administrator privileges to collaborators.

Thankfully you no longer need to worry as Facebook adds new admin roles that clearly define the roles and levels of responsibility for fanpage collaborators. These are as follows:

Manager – Full access.
Content Creator – Access to all activities other than managing admins.
Moderator – Only able to moderate posts and comments and create adverts.
Create Ads – Only able to create adverts.
Insights Analyst – Only able to view page insights.
